This class will teach the basics of hand building in pottery, rolling slabs, cutting forms, shaping clay and surface decoration, as well as painting and glazing. The first class will have a specific project, and the other weeks there will be opportunities to make you own projects with the guidance of the instructor.

The workshop is led by an instructor who will help center the clay and teach you tips & tricks. Make a bowl, tumbler or vase. Everyone has the opportunity to throw multiple pieces and you can select ONE piece to have fully finished by our team.

Ready to take your handbuilding skills a little further? Once you’ve completed a beginner handbuilding class, there are endless possibilities to explore with clay!

In Handbuilding 2.0, you’ll build on your basic skills while experimenting with new techniques and approaches, including:

• Working with semi-hard clay

• Sculpture and 3D forms

• Sgraffito

• Carving and texture

• Screen printing on slabs

This class is designed for students who have previously completed a beginner handbuilding class and are comfortable with the basics of working with clay.
